Presenters

Laurie Bizzell, Senior Manager, Bennett Thrasher. Laurie has vast experience providing tax consulting and compliance services to U.S. and foreign insurance companies, offshore investment companies and multinational clients. Her industry experience includes multi-national (re)insurers, captive insurance, investment companies and professional services. Prior to Bennett Thrasher, Laurie worked at KPMG in New York and PricewaterhouseCoopers in both New York and Bermuda.

Michael Domanski, Partner and Leader, Insurance Tax Practice, Honigman LLP.  Michael has twenty years’ experience in international tax matters and alternative risk financing arrangements. He advises tax-exempt and for-entities in the organization and maintenance of captive insurance companies, self-insurance programs, risk purchasing groups, rent-a-captives, and risk retention groups. His practice also includes analysis of U.S. federal income and excise tax implications of international and captive insurance transactions.

Patrick Theriault, Managing Director, Strategic Risk Solutions.  Patrick oversees Strategic Risk Solutions’ captive management activities in the eastern United States. He has over 20 years’ experience forming and managing captive insurance companies, including single parent, small captives, cells, groups and risk retention groups.
